2023 Lend-A-Hand Grant Awards

A Dapple A Day Equine Center

This grant award will be used to purchase a run-in shed (shelter) for their herd of therapy horses at their new facility.

After the Fire, Inc.

Funding will be used to continue giving fire victims gift cards for supplies they have lost in the fire. 

AIM Services, Inc.

Grant funding will be used to support recreational and educational activities for people of all ages with diverse abilities participating in the Respite Program.

Bikeatoga

Grant funding will be used to add additional spaces for their volunteer mechanics to work, enabling more to work concurrently as well as for those coming to them with the knowledge of repair to work on their own bikes; to replace lost or worn out tools; to obtain additional parts needed for bike repairs; and to obtain safety equipment (lights, locks, and helmets) that they distribute along with refurbished bikes.

Camp Abilities Saratoga

Grant funds will cover the cost of one camper to fully participate in the one-week camp, specifically funding room and board, and the cost of the adaptive sports equipment used for activities.

 

CAPTAIN Community Human Services

Grant funds will be used for the Getting Ahead Program.

Catie Hoch Foundation

The funds will be used to purchase gas, restraurant, and supermarket gift cards, in addition to gift cards for the holidays.

CREATE Community Studios

Grant funds will be used to cover the full cost of a new archery starter kit for camp.

Family Services Assn. of Glens Falls

The funds will be used to help income-elligible familites purchase new shoes for their children.

First Baptist Church of Ballston Spa's Summer Lunch Program

Grant Funds will be used to purchase food items and necessary supplies.

Grant funds will be used to offset expenses incurred by meal preparation and deliveries, outsourced cleanings, and supplies and goodies for their annual basket giving event, Project Easter Bunny.

Flutters of Hope

Funds will be used to purchase supplies for Butterflywish baskets.

Glens Falls Central School District (GFCSD) Bakcpack Program

Funds will be used to purchase supplies that will enable the program to continue sending home weekly bags of snacks and meals to participating students in their progam.

Glens Falls Area Youth Center

The funds will go toward the Focusing on Education Program

 

Hudson Mohawk Area Health Education Center

Funds will be used to support the Medical Academy of Science and Health (MASH) Camp with meals and snacks, supplies, and activities for a one-day health career exploration camp.

Morgan Duke Conservation Society

The grant funds will be used to purchase 27 orange trash bags, trash picker-uppers, water bottles, drawstring backpacks, and postage to send supplies to volunteers.

Knipper Knolls Equine Center

The funds will be used to offset the expenses of horse health and welfare, including purchasing hay, grain, supplements, and dental and veterinary care.

NYSARC, Inc. (Saratoga Bridges)

Funds will give continued artistic opportunities for their participants by ensuring access to free classes.

Operation Adopt-A-Soldier

Grant funding will be used to pay for postage for care packages to soldiers.

Queensbury Senior Citizens, Inc.

This grant award will be used to reduce the cost of day trips for senior citizens in 2024.

Rebuilding Together Saratoga County

Grant funds will be used to help 40 homeowners in need, live in safer and healthier homes by purchasing and delivering Home Safety Kits.

Samaritan Hospital and the Eddy Foundation on behalf of the Glen at Hiland Meadows

Funds will be allocated towards the "Zen Den", in their Memory Care Center. The Zen Den is a space with relaxing features that add to the organization's approach to physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

        

Saratoga County Children's Committee

The grant will be used to help fund The Empty Stocking Project.

Saratoga Hospital Foundation

Grant funding will be used to provide free services to these children and teens (and families)  who simply cannot afford treatment as the majority of their clients are low income without health insurance or high co-pays.

Saratoga Pride, Pride Center of the Capital Region

The funds will be used to underwrite the expense to place Pride banners on Broadway and help underwrite the Saratoga Pride Festival in June 2024.

Saratoga Shredders

Grant funds will be used to purchase a means of transportation for 30 bikes between the six elementary schools of Saratoga Springs so that all children grades 2 through 5 in the district can have access to bikes for their PE program.

Saratoga Sponsor-A-Scholar

Grant funds will be used to provide new computers for high school students.

Servants of the World, DBA Open Door Mission

The funds will be put directly toward food costs for the Community Kitchen, Food Pantry, and Backpack program.

Shelters of Saratoga

Funding will be used to purchase food and hygiene supplies for Saratoga County residents who are economically disadvantaged or homeless.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace: NY-Mechanicville

The funds will be allocated to the construction and delivery of beds for children in need.

Southern Adirondack Audubon Society

The grant award will be used to purchase supplies enabling the organization to assemble and distribute 6 Birding Backpacks ($200 each) to 6 local libraries in Saratoga, Warren, Washington, and Hamilton counties.

Stories for Success Saratoga, Inc.

Grant funds will be redirected to chidlren enrolled in Universal Pre-Kindergarten Programs at various Capital Region city school districts. Backpacks provided will include 2-3 picture books, library card information, stickers, and other literary resources.

The Charlton School (David Porter Awardee)

Grant funds will be used to cover the cost of materials and equipment needed for The Therapeutic Arts Program, including a new pottery wheel to facilitate group sessions, projector for outlining murals, as well as clay, gloss puring mediums, painting mediums, painting supplies, and other materials.

The SNACpack Program, Inc.

Grant funds will be used to directly purchase nutritional food and drink from NE Regional Foodbank for weekly backpacks.

 

The Wildlife Institute of Eastern NY

The grant will be used to provide educational programs to camps and schools.

Twin Rivers Council

Funds will be used to provide uniforms, program materials, and a Scoutreach lead to carry out the program for up to 50+ youth in the community.

Warren Washington Care Center

Funds will be used to replace outdated forensic interviewing equipment that is no longer compatible with industry standards.

Warren Washington County Homeless Youth Coalition (WAIT House)

Funds will support youth discharging from WAIT Houses’s shelter programs into permanent housing. They will cover moving costs and help youth purchase needed items including household supplies and basic furnishings.
