2013 Lend A Hand Grant Awards

The Adirondack Trust Company Community Fund announced that the Independent Advisory Committee has awarded Lend-A-Hand Grants to a record seventeen, local, nonprofit organizations. The grants totaled $42,600 which was a new record, up from $12,300 in 2012. The name of each organization and a brief description of how they will use the funds are listed below. Adirondack Samaritan Counseling Center Inc.

Lend-A-Hand Grant will help to provide funding for counseling services to help provide mental health counseling. ASCC provides professional psychotherapy, counseling, and educational services to facilitate emotional and spiritual health for families and individuals of varied means.


Domestic Violence & Rape Crisis Services of Saratoga County

Lend-A-Hand Grant will help to provide funding for St. Joseph’s counselor to provide outreach to adults and youth in communities throughout Saratoga County and to help focus communities to create the social change to end relationship abuse.


Double H. Ranch

Lend-A-Hand Grant will provide financial support assistance for the Winter Sports Program. This program offers children ages 6 to 16 dealing with chronic and life threatening illnesses the opportunity to participate in various winter sports in the Adirondack Mountains free of charge with the necessary equipment provided.


Floydwarriors.com, Inc.

Lend-A-Hand Grant award will provide assistance to patients diagnosed with any form of cancer by providing volunteers who assist with meal delivery and assist them with basic needs in their home, including cleaning.


The Glens Falls Operetta Club/Glens Falls Community Theatre

The funds will be used to support the 2013-2014 GFCT Season, including the annual fall musical, murder mystery, spring play, annual workshops, and it’s Senior Seminar.


Habitat for Humanity

Lend-A-Hand Grant award will help build new two new homes in Saratoga Springs on two foreclosed properties for two families that are economically disadvantaged.


Lake George Music Festival, Inc.

Lend-A-Hand Grant Award provided to support the fourth annual season of Lake George’s music festival, including rehearsals, live concerts, and family friendly workshops.


Parsons Child and Family Center

Lend-A-Hand Grant Award will help support Camp To Belong a nonprofit organization that reunite brothers and sisters that live in separate foster care settings to a week-long summer camp. This is the only camp of its type in New York State and the camp is held at Camp Chingachgook.


Operation Adopt A Soldier

Lend-A-Hand Grant award will help to provide support so packages and letters can be sent to soldiers, support family members of military, travel to airports and to welcome home soldiers when they return to the Capital Region of New York State.


Saratoga Film Forum

Lend-A-Hand Grant Award will help to continue the program, “In the Public Interest!,” a movie night which would show high-quality relevant films with moderated after movie discussions.


Saratoga Sponsor A Scholar

Lend-A-Hand Grant Award will provide graphing calculators for incoming sophomores that recently began the program. These special calculators which are used for 10th grade Geometry class, 11th grade Trigonometry class and the SAT’s.


Senior Citizens Center of Saratoga

Lend-A-Hand Grant Award will assist with subsidizing the bus trip program for 55 people, four trips per year to culturally stimulating locations for senior citizens such as New York City Museums, the Boston Flower Show and Lake Placid, New York amongst others.


Shelters of Saratoga

Lend-A-Hand Grant award will purchase a generator for the housing facility so electricity will be provided in an emergency that will maintain safe and secure housing for their house guests.


Waterford Historical Museum & Cultural Center

Lend-A-Hand Grant Award funds will be used for the consultant and to help exhibit the furniture and display mounts that will exhibit artifacts from the Hudson River dredging project.


Wildlife Institute of Eastern NY

Lend-A-Hand Grant Award will fund the environmental education program, “Silent Wings” to schools, libraries, nature centers, state parks, scout groups, youth camps, etc. featuring live birds of prey, such as hawks, falcons and owls. This program is anticipated to reach over 600 children and adults.
