2016 Lend A Hand Grant Awards

The Adirondack Trust Company Community Fund via the Independent Advisory Committee has awarded Lend-A-Hand Grants to 23 local, nonprofit organizations. The grants totaled $42,270. The name of each organization and a brief description of how they will use their grants are listed below. AIM Services, Inc.
Funding support will help purchase of laptops for participants in the Employment Services Program, which provides seamless online skills training and job preparedness for those seeking gainful employment.

Ballston Spa Partnership for Innovation in Education
To support the 2017 Girls’ Summit, a full-day event for 100 seventh-grade girls from Ballston Spa, including at-risk students, to empower, inspire, and inform girls to lead healthy lives and better prepare for their futures.

Dance Alliance, Inc., of Saratoga Springs
To fund the program MOVE Dance, the teen outreach program of Dance Alliance, which meets for a free weekly hip-hop/contemporary dance class, including transportation for guest artists, tee-shirts and admission fees.

First Baptist Church Summer Lunch Program
To provide nutritious lunches five days per week to low- and middle-income families that receive free- or reduced-price lunches at school during the months of July and August.

Floydwarriors.com, Inc.
To provide cleaning services, childcare reimbursement, and to purchase supplies to make meals for individuals with cancer and their families.

Franklin Community Center, Inc.
To support the food pantry, which provides healthy, balanced meals to more than 8,000 individuals annually.

Gateway House of Peace
Funding will help Gateway House of Peace sustain their service to the community and fulfill their mission of caring for those dying and supporting their families free of charge.

Nipper Knolls Equine Center
To provide horses, equipment, and support personnel, which are used to provide equine-assisted activities to children with special needs.

Our Town Theatre Group
To fund a week-long children’s musical theater workshop for grads two through four, which introduces children and families to performing arts and allows children to gain experience in all aspects of theater.

SaratogaArtsFest
To support Arts Fest Friday, a series of exciting and dynamic evenings filled with visual and performing events at no charge to the public.

Saratoga Bridges
To support staffing of new artists for the Creative Endeavors Art Center program.

Saratoga Center for the Family
To enhance the counseling program by allowing the center to provide more counseling sessions to clients who are uninsured or underinsured and unable to afford the fees.

Saratoga Community Health Center/Saratoga Hospital
To purchase a Portable Auto Refractor for the Health Care Center, which measures the cornea, pupillary distance, and secures a baseline for vision prescription.

Saratoga County Rural Preservation Company
To make necessary repairs to the front porch of the Guardian House, which is a transitional, supportive housing program for 11 homeless female veterans.

Saratoga Sponsor-A-Scholar
To provide graphing calculators for the students who recently began the program, which are used for 10th grade geometry class, 11th grade trigonometry class, and the SATs.

Senior Citizens Center of Saratoga
To subsidize the bus trip program for 57 people per trip, four trips per year, to culturally stimulating locations for senior citizens.

Servants of the Word, DBA The Open Door Mission
To fund the Open Door Backpack Program, which provides nutritious meals to school-aged children at 10 local schools, who have little-to-no food.

Shelters of Saratoga
To fund the costs and provide basic necessities and other services to assist the individuals in moving forward and achieving their goals to attain self-sufficiency.

The Ben Osborn Memorial Fund, Inc.
For qualifying school-aged children to receive clothing, snacks, head lice kits, and blankets.

The Children’s Museum at Saratoga
For the construction of the newest exhibit space, the Sensory Integration Room, which will be a daily extension of the Making Connections Autism program.

Troy Conference Geriatric Foundation, Inc., DBA The Wesley Foundation
To purchase two PT/INR Control Clinical Monitoring Machines.

Unlimited Potential
To purchase and install a 65″ smart HDTV television for computer training classes for the mentally disabled.
